DM’s Theme Song

“Eye in the Sky” by The Alan Parsons Project is the perfect description of a DM.

I owe this connection to my brother, Robert. The best DM I have ever had.

Imagine it is the DM saying these words.

Think about it, the DM knows it all. The DM knows what your character is thinking and planning.

The chorus is spot on, “I am the maker of rules, Dealing with fools….”

“Are you sure you want to do that?”

  1. My brother and I had this discussion decades ago about songs whose lyrics when seen through the lens of RPGs and imagining who the speaker of those lyrics is.

Sometimes the song’s title says it all. For others, it’s the chorus. For very few, the whole song.

I created a YouTube playlist for this.

For the DM/GM (esp. chorus) – “Eye in The Sky” by the Allan Parsons Project, 1982.

For the DM/GM – “Every Breath You Take” by The Police, 1983.

For Illusionists (Title) – “Don’t Stop Believing” by Journey, 1981.

Druid or Rakshasa – “Eye of The Tiger” by Survivor, 1982.

Rangers – “I love A Rainy Night” by Eddie Rabbit, 1980.

Magic Users – “Abracadabra” by Steve Miller Band, 1981.

Listening At Doors/What’s On The Other Side Of Doors – “Who Can It Be Now” by Men At Work, 1981.

Surrounded In A Fight – “Against All Odds” by Phil Collins, 1983.

Most Adventuring Parties – “Best That You Can Do” by Christopher Cross, 1981.

Rolling Lots of Hits – “Another One Bites The Dust” by Queen, 1980.

Comment with a song and if it’s the title or lyrics, etc. that evokes what you think of as a particular class or creature.
